Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Support Assistant to join our Early Years team, specifically working with a child transitioning from nursery to reception who presents with undiagnosed neurodivergence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in facilitating a positive and inclusive learning environment for the child, promoting their social and academic development.
Responsibilities:
One-on-One Support: Provide constant, one-on-one support to the child, assisting them in navigating the transition from nursery to reception.
Non-Verbal Communication Support: Develop and implement strategies to support the child's non-verbal communication skills, ensuring effective communication with peers and adults.
Behavioral Support: Proactively manage and address challenging behaviors that may arise due to frustration or sensory issues, with a focus on promoting a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Physical Activity Supervision: Monitor and engage the child during physical activities, recognizing and channeling their inclination to run about in a manner that aligns with the school's policies and safety standards.
Collaborative Learning: Work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to integrate the child into the classroom setting, fostering a collaborative learning experience.
Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Stay informed about best practices in supporting neurodivergent children, attending relevant training sessions, and adapting strategies to meet the evolving needs of the child.
Communication with Parents and Guardians: Maintain open and transparent communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on the child's progress and collaborating on strategies for support both at home and in the school environment.
