This lovely primary are looking for a SEN TA to support one child in the morning, and one in the afternoon. They are both in reception, and both have EHCPs in place
The first child is non-verbal, and is in nappies, so does require personal care. He has a reduced awareness of danger, and can be impulsive and very active. The school is looking for someone to support with supervision to keep the child safe. Makaton is used to help the child to understand behaviours, and he responds well to distraction techniques including water play, sensory toys, and cuddles.
The second child, who you would be supporting in the afternoons is Y1 age, but has been kept in reception. He is also non-verbal and requires personal care. It can take him some time to feel comfortable, but does enjoy playing with other children, but he loves to play on the swing and the roundabout. He can get frustrated when he's struggling to communicate, and has a habit of biting his hands and grinding his teeth. He absolutely loves sensory toys and the sensory room.
Both are sweet children and are not violent.
