About this Role:

[ ex: Seeking a dedicated SPED Instructional/Behavior Aide to provide one-on-one support for a 4th-grade student with significant academic needs. The student is transitioning from a full-inclusion district placement and is currently working on foundational literacy skills, including letter recognition. Due to the student's academic level, the student requires a modified curriculum and consistent instructional support. The student also presents with symptoms of ADD, requiring frequent redirection and behavioral support to maintain engagement.
This position involves both academic assistance and the implementation of behavioral strategies to foster a supportive and effective learning environment].
Example of Specific Duties/Skills:
- Provide effective and engaging academic instruction
- Provide constant instruction for demonstrating positive social behavior
- Behavior management and motivation techniques
- Implement evidence-based behavior strategies, including token economies
- Monitor emotional regulation and know when to engage vs. give space
- Reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher
General Responsibilities:
- Support IEP implementation
- Provide supports that facilitate a student's access to their education
- Follow verbal/written protocols for behavior and communication
- Reinforce instructional and behavioral goals
- Monitor safety (during lunch, transitions, field trips, etc.)
- Maintain documentation and records
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff
- Demonstrate positive, respectful, and age-appropriate interactions with students across all school settings as demonstrated by a positive tone of voice and pointing out the successes of students
Working Conditions:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- Seeing to monitor student classroom activities.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information and provide instruction.
- Bending at the waist.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate instructional equipment.
