I have been a teacher for 17 years, mostly in a small school in Wimbledon. I have seen many changes to teaching in the years and have often had to develop my practice and learn new skills, especially in Maths. I have led Maths in my school for 14 years and I have worked as an Advanced Skills Teacher within Merton.
This meant I worked with the Maths consultants and in schools giving support and guidance to both teachers and leaders of Maths. I have also completed research for the NCETM and used this to further train teachers and leaders in Merton, Wimbledon and Richmond. I love teaching Maths in Primary school and trying new ideas to bring the subject alive.
I can help with both teaching and learning and middle leadership. I have taught in all KS1 and KS2 classes and have extensive knowledge of KS2. I can help with planning, teaching and learning and am currently developing a mastery style of teaching within my school. I have done lots of work on CPA and how to engage all learners in the classroom. I can also support new subject leaders with starting their new role, getting to grips with the data and how they can move their school forward.

I am in my 7th year of work at Chesterton Primary School where I have moved from NQT starting my career to now being Deputy Head responsible for Assessment and Lead for the London South West Maths hub.
I am very passionate about recent developments in teaching and learning in Maths with a focus on teaching for mastery. Having been involved in the DfE's Shanghai exchange in 2014/15 I feel I have a good understanding of the principles behind teaching for mastery.
As well as leading assessment and Maths at Chesterton, I also lead the London South West Maths Hub. As part of this programme I regularly lead training and deliver gallery lessons to a wide range of professionals.
I can offer support to school leaders in implementing effective assessment systems under the new curriculum expectations. I can also provide bespoke support in terms of Maths leadership development for new subject leaders and middle leaders.
I can also provide whole school training/INSET based on teaching for mastery.

I have taught for 13 years in London (Boroughs of Ealing, Bexley and Lewisham) and most recently in Kent. My introduction to mastery began in 2015, attending CPD sessions from the Elmhurst Teaching School Alliance, this lead to my appointment as NCETM Professional Development Lead in 2016. The introduction and embedding of the mastery approach in my current school gave me the opportunity to represent the school at a KCC Mathematics Conference showcasing good examples in Mathematics Mastery. In September 2016, I was appointed Specialist Leader of Education for Primary Mathematics by the WTSA.

Throughout the past eight years, I have taught in some capacity throughout both key stages however my expertise lies with Key Stage 2.
Starting in a two-form entry school in Surrey, I moved to inner London two years into my career. Within this school, I first took on the role of Maths Lead and was instrumental in changing the entire teaching programme, assessment systems and teaching and learning practises. It was during this time that I also took on the role as a Leading Teaching for Wandsworth borough. Teachers from within the borough would come to visit and observe my practise.
Most recently I have moved to Chesterton Primary (a teaching school and base of the South West London Maths Hub) where I lead Maths and also lead a Maths Hub project. Throughout my career, I have had experience of working in different school environments. Within my previous school, they were going through an extremely difficult transition period.
The entire Maths curriculum, assessments and practices had to be updated and improved rapidly in a very short period. It was my responsibility to do this in a manner which engaged, encouraged and motivated the staff- a skill which I feel I can now bring to other schools. Most recently I have had an immense amount of experience of building up the 'mastery' system of teaching within my current school and creating resources through the Maths Hub to support other schools

Drama
I was trained at St Mary's University and specialised in directing for the theatre and subsequently completed my PGCE course at the Institute of Education. I have taught for 24 years and have been a Deputy Head of Year, a Head of Department and now a Head of Faculty/Cluster. I have worked at Goldsmiths University for 12 years as a mentor on the Drama PGCE course and have trained many teachers over the years.
I specialise in producing large scale productions, musicals, dance evenings and showcases at Burntwood. As well as my teaching position, I also work part-time as an Associate Producer of Tooting Arts Club, an award winning theatre company which I set up with ex-Burntwood student Rachel Edwards. I have many professional links with the Performing Arts business and have found a variety of ways of integrating this knowledge into my own teaching and in the running of my cluster.
I would love to give any interested teacher support in developing any aspect of the Performing Arts. Our system of assessing students, monitoring progress and target setting is a real strength of our department. If your assessment systems need an overhaul or fresh ideas why not spend a day here at Burntwood looking at our systems or I can spend a day helping you to update and refresh your own? Recently I have been working alongside colleagues looking at teachers' mindsets and how working with teachers outside of our specialism can bring a fresh perspective on our own teaching pedagogy.
I worked alongside a D&T teacher wanting to find more interactive ways of approaching evaluation and I was able to bring some standard systems used in the Performing Arts to help her to plan a more exciting and risk taking strategy. It would be great to work alongside teachers from all disciplines to explore dynamic ways into a topic or subject.

During my teaching career I have worked in both mixed and single sexed multicultural schools in Canada, New Zealand and recently London for the past 10 years. Currently I am at Burntwood School as Head of Science teacher with multiple responsibilities. They include overseeing 20 teachers across the 3 Science specialism, 4 technicians as well as overseeing the vocational curriculum and working with local Primaries in the community liaison role. My community liaison role involves supporting non-specialist Primary teachers and delivering the National Science Curriculum to enthuse students. I also work with the Primary students to stretch the more able as well as deliver lessons to Key Stage 2 classes.

The majority of my experience is in Inner London Primary schools. I have also taught in an International school in Thailand. I have mainly taught Pre-Nursery, Early Years and Key Stage One. I have led numerous subjects, including Maths, Science and PSHE. I have also been a SENCO. I have supported the professional development of key leaders in a variety of schools. I run the Beyond Early Years course and have carried out NQT training.
I have been a member of the senior leadership team for a number of years and I am currently the Head of School at Chesterton Primary School but retain a passion for the Early Years.

I am the Head of History at Ernest Bevin College in Tooting, London. I have specialist outstanding knowledge of teaching and learning in History. I have also undertaken valuable research into the management and utility of beginning teachers in my own institution and been involved in creating policies relating to the management of beginning teachers in my school.
What support can I bring?
As an SLE, I hope to support schools in developing their ability to support individual teachers, beginning teachers and Heads of Departments in school improvement. In my opinion, this can be achieved primarily through focusing on teaching and learning and developing positive working relationships.

For the last 10 years I have worked in inner London Primary schools. I have taught across KS1 and KS2 and have led reading and writing in different schools supporting the development of key leaders in different settings. I have been a deputy head for the past 3 years and lead on curriculum with a particular focus on reading/writing and NQT provision.

Having worked as a Year 4 teacher in a school in Mitcham, London, I moved to a rural school in Kent and taught Year 3/4. My introduction to teaching for mastery started in early 2015, whereby I attended a number of mastery courses. This included training and being appointed as a Professional Development Lead through the National Teaching College for Excellence in Mathematics.
I subsequently ensured that a mastery approach to teaching and learning was introduced and embedded across my whole school, before aiding neighbouring schools in a collaboration to improve the standards of Mathematics. I was also invited to demonstrate the mastery practise of our school at a Kent County Council Mathematics conference. Currently, I am teaching a Year 1/ 2 class and have recently been appointed SLE by the WTSA.

In conjunction with the Ealing Teaching Alliance and the Institute Of Education I became a NPQML facilitator, delivering programmes for middle leaders, or those who are about to take on a substantive middle leader role in schools.
I have previously supported schools in special measures to improve Teaching and Leadership in the EYFS, including action planning, assessment, observations, moderation, target setting, planning and development of the learning environment.
With my expertise in Early Years I have driven sustained improvement in assessment by developing tracking systems to monitor pupil progress from Nursery, through Reception and beyond. I am presently having a significant impact as part of Leadership Team, working collaboratively in accordance with the School Development Plan to raise standards in Teaching and Learning to support colleagues including new to school, and RQT’s.
I have been instrumental in leading improvements and raising standards in phonics and have conducted whole school insets, developed individuals, including support staff with planning through to implementation, including facilitating workshops for parents.
As an SLE I specialise in improving Teaching and Learning. More specifically, all areas of the EYFS and Phonics.

Balham Nursery School & Children’s Centre Services | Early Years Deputy Headteacher | SLT
I am passionate about the importance of the early years phase of education and specialised in this for my PGCE, following the completion of a psychology degree. Subsequently I also completed an MA in which I chose to focus on SEND and inclusion before completing my dissertation on the then new EYFS section ‘characteristics of effective learning’, unpicking how they presented in a typical 2-, 3- and 4-year old through action research. I find external links very useful for my own reflection and development and as such am part of a couple of larger network groups in London and strive to attend conferences to stay abreast of the most recent and relevant research to ensure best practice based on evidence, which I then share with colleagues.
I firmly believe in keeping children at the heart of all we do in education, starting from play-based provision that is supported by a challenging and open-ended environment as well as skilled and knowledgeable practitioners. Over recent years we have worked particularly on how best to incorporate ICT in the curriculum and environment, finding creative ways in which it can encourage children to engage in group learning, support their investigations, highlight their fascinations and stimulate conversations.
I especially enjoy supporting adults in being lifelong learners and as well as identifying CPD needs. I frequently plan and lead in-house sessions on topics such as interactions, observations, early phonics, mathematics and creative use of ICT. I have also successfully mentored both students training to work in the early years and NQTs.
I lead on the data moderation, collation and analysis in school and have worked hard to ensure that as far as possible all that we do has a direct and positive impact on children’s learning.
