I have been a Governor for 18 years and an NLG for 6 years.
I am a Director of Crompton House Church of England MAT.
Governance experience has been in the primary, secondary, Faith schools, MAT and University Technical College areas of education.
My approach to Governance being that all of our decisions should result in actions that will ultimately be for the benefit of the child, we all have a responsibility to provide opportunities for students to become the best that they can be.
Teamwork is the key to achieving this.
Team work, Professionalism, Honesty, Commitment
1. GM UTC, drafted in as Chair of Trustees to close down UTC. Worked with SLT, Staff, Students, Local Authority and ESFA to ensure that education provision continued for those taking exams, correct placements for those continuing in education and university/apprenticeship places were secured. Negotiated with Local Authority and Trade Unions to ensure staff received the correct support to relocate or accept redundancy. This resulted in the best exam results the UTC ever had and 4 out of 5 apprenticeships at a local aircraft manufacturer being offered to UTC students.
2. Bolton UTC as a member if IEB. Worked closely with SLT, Ofsted and outside agencies to move from RI to Good Ofsted marking within 12 months.
3. Crewe UTC competed a review of Governance which assisted in restructuring Governance and complementing existing good practice which helped teamwork with SLT, resulting in a first Ofsted Inspection rating as Good.
