Job Description

Summary

As a Behavior Specialist in a school setting, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special needs by assisting the classroom teacher. Your focus will be on implementing behavior management plans, redirecting challenging behaviors, facilitating social interactions, and providing one-on-one or small group assistance to help students meet their IEP goals within a structured learning environment.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications: Education: - 72 quarter college credits or higher, OR one of the following: - A high school diploma and a Washington State Paraeducator Certificate - A high school diploma and a Passing score on one of 3 Washington approved assessments: * ETS Parapro score of at least 455 * Pearson Paraprofessional assessment score of at least 220 * The Master Teacher Inc Paraeducator Online Training Program grade of at least 65% Language & Authorization: - Professional proficiency in English. - U.S. Work Authorization (Zen Educate cannot provide sponsorship for an employment visa or relocation assistance). Experience: - Prior experience working with children in a structured setting is an asset. - Prior experience, personal or professional, assisting people with special needs or disabilities. Physical Requirements: - Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the classroom throughout the day - Able to lift up to 20 lbs and safely assist students when needed (kneeling, bending, quick response) - Additional physical requirements may be requested during your application process

Super helpful and supportive team

Meaningful Work, work always available
I love working with Zen. The schedule is flexible if you want to work full time or part time. There is always work available to pick up a shift the night before or the morning of. You can even take on a permanent role at a school if requested. Management is very supportive and understanding.

Flexible schedule
Although I can’t complain the many opportunities this agency have provided for me and it’s plus for being a w-2 taxed job the benefits takes nearly 11 months to receive them.

What is the best part of working at the company? Flexibility and great responsive management. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? It is not Zen that causes the stress directly, but some teachers aren’t prepared for you in any way. Concerning special needs classrooms, the down time involved to figure responsibilities out can be detrimental to students. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Every single employee I’ve had the pleasure of meeting is very nice and also capable.

Zen is a fantastic place to work
Zen is a fantastic place to work for. I was very quickly placed into a school nearby home and I am consistently given opportunities to cover shifts at other schools in the area when needed. My superiors have excellent communication and treat me with respect. I feel very welcomed with other Zen Para’s and subs!
