Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team at a specialist educational setting committed to providing exceptional support to pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, communication and interaction difficulties, and associated learning needs. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the personalised education and holistic development of our students aged 3 to 19, within a school that values inclusivity, respect, and fostering independence. Working closely with our experienced staff, the SEN HLTA will play a vital role in delivering tailored support within a nurturing environment that promotes learning through a range of innovative outdoor and indoor activities. The position is based in Teignbridge and is available for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, individualised support to pupils with special educational needs, including those with complex communication and behaviour requirements, in accordance with their Education, Health and Care plans.
- Assist class teachers in planning and delivering personalised learning programmes that align with the school’s inclusive ethos and curriculum.
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development by implementing strategies that promote positive interactions and independence.
- Supervise and assist pupils during classroom activities, outdoor education sessions, and other school-based events, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Lead small group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils’ communication, social skills, and learning goals, using approaches consistent with the school's values and pedagogical approach.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of specialised programmes, including sensory activities, outdoor learning (such as forest school and horticulture), and leisure activities within the school’s extensive grounds.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to monitor pupil progress and modify support strategies as needed.
- Uphold the school's ethos of fostering independence, respect, and a positive attitude towards learning, ensuring each pupil feels valued and supported.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support activities in line with school policies and OFSTED requirements.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that reflects the school's commitment to diversity and individualised learning.
