Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our independent school community. Our school specialises in providing education and support for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for our students.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH difficulties, both inside and outside the classroom, to help them achieve their learning goals.
Assist teachers in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's needs.
Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the classroom to encourage students' personal and social development.
Collaborate with the teaching staff and other support personnel to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
Help create and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that adheres to the school's policies and guidelines.
Monitor and track students' progress, behaviour, and well-being, reporting any concerns to relevant staff or parents/guardians.
Support students during school outings, field trips, and other activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist with any personal care needs of students, as required.
Requirements:
Experience working with students with SEMH difficulties or similar special educational needs is preferred.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students' social, emotional, and academic development.
Candidates must be over the age of 24 and hold a valid driver's license, as driving may be necessary for certain school-related activities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of students and the school environment.
Strong organisational skills to assist with record-keeping and monitoring students' progress.
A relevant educational qualification or ongoing pursuit of one (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) is desirable but not mandatory.
