Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Location: Oaklands (New Oaks Primary) Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team on a full-time basis. This role could potentially include personal care. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support to students with Autism, profound learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and multiple learning difficulties. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure that each student receives tailored support to access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one support to students with diverse special educational needs, including Autism, profound learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and multiple learning difficulties. Assist students in accessing the curriculum by adapting materials and resources as necessary. Support students with personal care, mobility, and other daily living tasks as required. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and self-esteem. Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet the holistic needs of each student. Maintain accurate records of student progress, achievements, and any incidents, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity at all times. Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of special education. Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly Autism, profound learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and multiple learning difficulties. A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of students with diverse needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment. An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of all students. Relevant qualifications or training in special education, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, would be advantageous but not essential.
