Job description

Zen Educate is partnering with school districts across Ohio to support students with special needs through dedicated Special Education Paraprofessionals. In this role, you will work under the direction of a licensed teacher or intervention specialist to provide academic, behavioral, and personal support to students with disabilities. This position plays a critical role in helping students access their education in a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one or small-group support to students in general education, resource, or self-contained special education settings Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), accommodations, and behavior intervention plans as directed by the supervising teacher Support students with academic tasks, classroom engagement, and skill development Assist with behavior management using positive, district-approved strategies Support student transitions throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and specials Provide personal care support as required, including toileting, feeding, mobility assistance, and positioning (with appropriate training) Collect and document data related to student progress and behavior Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers Maintain confidentiality and comply with all district, state, and federal regulations Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required Ability to obtain or hold a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit Experience working with students with disabilities preferred (e.g., autism, emotional/behavioral needs, developmental delays) Ability to follow instructional plans and behavior strategies as directed Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to stand, walk, and assist students throughout the school day Willingness to complete required training (e.g., CPI, safety, CPR/First Aid if applicable) Why Work with Zen Educate Flexible opportunities across multiple districts and school settings Ongoing support from Zen Educate’s staffing and onboarding team Meaningful work making a direct impact on student success Opportunities for long-term placements and school-based careers

How do I apply to work with Zen?

How do I interview?

Roles

What roles do you cover?

We help Teachers, Teachers Assistants, Teachers Aides, and Paraprofessionals find work. We work with all types of schools and help with short-term, long-term, and permanent roles. Many of our long-term roles convert to permanent roles. We make it far easier than a traditional agency for teachers to convert temporary positions into permanent ones.

Do you have early childhood or K-12 roles?

Yes. We can help with daily subbing and long-term jobs in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. We don't typically have jobs in higher education or college.

What areas do you cover?

We work with over 500 schools in Minneapolis St Paul - Minnesota, Denver - Colorado, Los Angeles - California and Phoenix - Arizona, San Diego California, The Bay Area California

Do you have school administrator roles?

If you're looking for teaching or teaching assistant roles, and would also be interested in admin roles, it's worth letting us know. If you're only looking for admin roles, we might not be the place for you as this isn't what we specialize in.

Do you provide any training for teachers?

Yes, we have educators on staff who offer expertise and training to Zen Educate teachers. Regions vary in the training sessions that are required / offered.

How is Zen Educate different from a recruitment agency?

Zen Educate is a technology platform to connect teachers with schools directly. Agencies are an expensive middleman between schools and teachers. They have to charge high commissions because their booking procedures are largely manual and run on outdated systems. Because we run more of the process online or on your phone, we create an experience that matches schools and teachers at a fraction of the cost.

What documents do I need to provide in the vetting process?

We'll need a photo for professional use, resume, and a document reflecting your highest level of education. In addition, we'll need a right to work and background check. Your region or school may require other training or documentation - our recruitment team will guide you through each step!
