About the school

Prince of Wales Primary School opened in 1950 and is situated in Enfield Lock, North East of the London Borough of Enfield. It benefits from extensive grounds including gardens, pond, sports fields, playgrounds and environmental areas. The local environment offers a variety of historical, rural and industrial resources which provide an excellent stimulus for historical, geographical and technological studies. Through the road, rail, bus and cycle networks the school has good access to the borough, the Capital, outer London boroughs and our neighbouring Counties of Hertfordshire and Essex. The School works closely with a range of stakeholders and agencies to provide the best education for our children and support for families and the local community. We are a 3-form entry school and at full capacity can accommodate 690 pupils. There is a 30-hour nursery provision. prince-of-wales-aboutWe benefit from the cultural diversity within our continuously changing local and wider community and have established rich partnerships which support our children’s development and broaden their experiences. We are an inclusive School that has high aspirations for all our children’s achievements; regardless of their learning abilities, background or prior education. Our pupils are taught and coached to be resilient to the many challenges in their lives; overall they are well motivated and ambitious. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is implemented throughout Nursery and Reception, after which the National Curriculum is followed. All children are encouraged to achieve their best through a wide range of positive behaviour strategies. Central to these are these three rules: Be Ready, Be Safe, Be Respectful. We recognise the need for a nurturing approach for pupils and adults alike. In the school, our year groups work together and are led by Achievement Leaders who are members of the School Leadership Team. The development of each person as an individual and their contribution towards the group and school community is central to our ethos. The children frequently attend events and competitions, for example football, netball, debating, chess, spelling bee and public speaking where they are commended for their attitude, accomplishments and behaviour. OUR VALUES AND LEARNING Our values led education has its focus on English and mathematics skills which are strengthened by a cross-curricular approach. We focus on and immerse ourselves in a monthly Value; what it means and understanding how we can all practically live by it. School Values have included Attitude, Co-operation, Thoughtfulness, Gratitude, Freedom, Honesty, Enthusiasm, Responsibility, Compassion, and Peace. Each week we celebrate the successes of children who have demonstrated the values and they are presented with an engraved baton which they take home and pass on the following week to the next role model in their class. We believe it is important that children gain leadership skills and we nurture this in a number of ways, for example by enabling them to be team captains, take part in the School Parliament (now called Junior Leadership Team) or be elected as a Prefect, Head Girl or Head Boy. Children can volunteer as Playground Buddies to support constructive break and lunchtime play. In English we offer pupils as many reading opportunities as possible, including through the use of ICT. All children read every day with an adult through our day through our Daily Guided and Supported Reading programmes. Writing is strengthened by making strong links with foundation subjects. All pupils in Years 5 and 6 participate in public speaking and debating and these are becoming strengths in our school. KS2 classes benefit from Philosophy for Children teaching, known as P4C. P4C enables deeper thinking about a range of subjects and strengthens pupils’ writing as well. The School provides access to a variety of online learning programs that enable teachers to set differentiated homework tasks. Much importance is given to traditional and performing arts. Opportunities for practice and performance are wide ranging, including class assemblies to parents, the school talent show, seasonal shows and, with the benefit of dance lessons by a specialist teacher, participation in the Enfield Dance Festival. Our music teaching and resourcing are recognised across the borough. All pupils have the opportunity to learn to play a variety of instruments such as African drums, steel pans, violin, viola and ukulele. One to one tuition of piano is also available. Music therapy has been used to improve pupils’ emotional well-being, enable communication and improve confidence. The school radio is led by pupils and broadcasts to the playground. Visits to the Barbican or Opera enhance pupils’ music experiences. The school has a long history of successful art projects, working with artists and talented parents as well as our dedicated and creative staff. Subject Leaders are continually looking at improving pupils’ outcomes and raising standards in their area of responsibility. They learn from best practice in other schools to benefit teaching and learning across the age groups. We are part of the Enfield Town Schools Partnership (ETSP), an exciting alliance of 21 richly diverse, local schools who collaborate together to develop excellent teaching and learning opportunities for their pupils. Our team of gardeners supported by a dedicated School Environment Team meet regularly to ensure children can learn from the extensive outdoor environment. Each class grows their own vegetables, fruit and flowers; we are an RHS 5 star gardening school and for the fourth year in succession we received an Enfield in Bloom Gold award. Our chickens are well looked after by their young handlers. We are members of the Schools Climate Action Network in Enfield and are working with HOPES to monitor and reduce our energy intake. Solar panels installed in summer 2022 will help us achieve this further. COMMUNITY Families support us well and all parents are expected to take an active part in their children’s development and education. We have exciting opportunities to promote lifelong learning skills for pupils and parents through study support activities and extended schools facilities. We hold regular Parent Cafés that are highly valued and well-attended. These give our parents a taste of their children’s learning and offer an opportunity for parents to undertake an activity with their children. There is also a range of adult learning that take place in our Community Room. Through our PSO and outreach services we also offer support to more vulnerable families with parenting and accessing further help. The school day starts with a well-attended Breakfast Club from 7:30am that provides children with a calm start to the day, makes a significant impact on children’s behaviour and attentiveness at school and enables parents to go to work. Various intervention groups are organised before school and during lunch time to provide some children with a much needed calm transition back into class ready for the afternoon. The WCC after-school club is also highly valued by our working families. Our recognition of our school community’s diverse background can be seen through our work with the Alevi families, celebration of Black History throughout the curriculum all year round, development of a community allotment, providing culturally diverse lunches, music provision, annual Cultural Day celebration and school staff. We value the contribution of our volunteers. Many staff started their school career in this way until their skills became noticed and they were recruited as a member of support staff and later as teachers. Our pupils also give their time freely supporting other children. Staff, pupils and parents reviewed our charities fundraising events to link with our annual school’s values cycle. We have an active group of parents that supports the school through the Friends of Prince of Wales. We have forged strong links with schools in France and The Netherlands; together we are working on joint projects involving pupils and staff. Mr Jan M Bless – Headteacher

How do I interview? Do I have to come to your office?

To make sure you're getting bookings perfect for you, we will invite you to a 30-minute online interview with our team to learn about your experience, preferences and why you're passionate about working in education. You can do this through any smartphone or computer. If you'd prefer to interview in person at our office, just let us know. Recent regulation changes require us to see your documents for your right to work in the UK in person. This takes no more than 5 minutes, dropping by our offices in London or Manchester.

I'm still in a full-time job/ not looking to work straight away and just looking

If you're not ready to find another role, or, you're definitely still welcome to sign up. Registering with us and letting us know what you're looking for will help us to get in touch with you about roles you may be interested in!

I only have overseas experience. Is that OK?

Generally schools prefer teachers and TAs who are familiar with the UK Curriculum, but this can vary. We'd be happy to speak to you about your experience, and find out if we'd be able to help you find a role.

Roles

What roles do you cover?

We help Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Cover Supervisors find work. We work with all types of schools and help with short-term, long-term and permanent roles. Many of our long-term roles convert to permanent roles. We make it far easier than a traditional agency for teachers to convert temporary positions into permanent ones.

What areas do you cover?

We work with over 400 schools in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds.

How much work is there?

Generally speaking, we have consistently high demand for daily supply teachers in Greater London, Manchester Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds. Teaching assistant work is generally higher for long-term roles rather than daily supply cover.

Do you have primary, secondary or nursery jobs?

Yes. We can help with daily supply and long-term jobs in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. We don't typically have jobs in further education or college.

Do you have work for cover supervisors, invigilators, or school administrators?

While the majority of our work is for teachers and teaching assistants, we do also have work for cover supervisors and invigilators. Explain what you are looking for when you sign up and our team will help you.

What subjects do you cover?

We cover all subjects taught in primary and secondary schools - if you're not sure if we can help you with what you're looking for, please register and arrange to speak to a member of our Teacher Success team.

Do you do school admin jobs?

If you're looking for teaching or teaching assistant roles, and would also be interested in admin roles, it's worth letting us know. If you're only looking for admin roles, we might not be the place for you, as this isn't what we specialise in.

General

How is Zen different from a recruitment agency?

Zen Educate is a technology platform to connect teachers with schools directly. Agencies are an expensive middleman between schools and teachers. They have to charge high commissions because their booking procedures are largely manual and run on outdated systems. Because we run more of the process online or on your phone, we create an experience that delights schools and teachers at a fraction of the cost.

What roles do you cover?

Start a conversation on chat or email support@zeneducate.com and our friendly team will get back to you shortly.
