We are looking for passionate, dedicated and compassionate professionals to join our school team as we continue to provide outstanding support for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We have exciting opportunities for both a SEMH Teaching Assistant and an Occupational Therapist to join our supportive and nurturing school environment. Both roles will play an important part in helping our pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop independence, build confidence and achieve their full potential.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, resilient and committed to understanding each child as an individual, recognising their strengths and supporting their individual needs.
Role 1: SEMH Teaching Assistant
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may experience social, emotional and mental health challenges, providing tailored support to help them engage with learning and develop positive relationships.
You will:
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent and supportive role model.
Support pupils to regulate their emotions, develop coping strategies and manage challenging situations.
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Provide individual and small-group support, adapting approaches to meet pupils' individual needs.
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional resilience and social development.
Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and essential life skills.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to pupil development.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, additional needs or challenging behaviour would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will bring patience, empathy, resilience and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
Role 2: Occupational Therapist
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to participation, learning and everyday activities. You will work collaboratively with the wider school team to develop practical strategies that enable pupils to become more independent, confident and engaged in school life.
You will:
Assess pupils' individual sensory, physical, functional and developmental needs.
Develop and deliver tailored occupational therapy programmes and interventions.
Support pupils with sensory processing, sensory regulation and emotional regulation.
Help pupils develop fine and gross motor skills, coordination and functional independence.
Provide strategies and adaptations to support pupils' engagement in classroom activities and everyday school routines.
Work closely with teaching staff to embed therapeutic approaches throughout the school day.
Advise and support staff in understanding pupils' sensory and occupational needs.
Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.
Monitor, review and evaluate pupils' progress, adapting interventions where necessary.
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist, ideally with experience or an interest in working with children and young people with SEMH, neurodevelopmental or additional needs.
What We Can Offer
A welcoming, supportive and inclusive school community.
The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.
A collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Opportunities for ongoing professional development and training.
A rewarding role where no two days are the same.
The opportunity to develop innovative and individualised approaches to supporting pupils.
The Ideal Candidates
We are looking for people who:
Are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
Demonstrate empathy, patience, flexibility and resilience.
Understand the importance of relationships, consistency and emotional wellbeing.
Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Are creative, reflective and willing to try new approaches.
Believe every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, valued and successful.
If you are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, discover their strengths and reach their potential, we would love to hear from you!
