SEN TA needed to work 1:1 with a girl in year 1 who has ASD, she is very active and can often run around a lot. She can often be out of the mainstream class in a break-out room during classes. Experience working 1:1 is essential.
About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 support to a girl in year 1 with ASD
- Assist in managing her behaviour and ensuring she stays on task
- Collaborate with the mainstream class teacher to create an inclusive learning environment
- Support the student during break times and in the breakout room, as required
- Adapt teaching materials and activities to meet the student's individual needs
- Monitor and record the student's progress and provide feedback to the class teacher
- Work closely with other teaching assistants and staff members to promote a positive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience working 1:1 with students with ASD
- Knowledge of strategies and techniques to support students with ASD
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage behaviour effectively and calmly
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning
- Basic understanding of the national curriculum and primary school teaching methods
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous
