A pupil referral unit in Newham are looking for a High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong background in Mathematics, to work with their secondary-aged students. Experience of working with challenging behaviour is a must. About the Role: - As a Pupil-referral-unit Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning of secondary-aged students who have been temporarily or permanently excluded from mainstream education. - You will work closely with the class teacher to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that each student's individual needs are met. - Your main focus will be on assisting students with their Mathematics studies, providing additional support and guidance where necessary. - You will also be responsible for managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom. - This is a full-time position, with regular working hours from Monday to Friday. Requirements: - Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a similar setting, preferably in a pupil-referral-unit school. - Strong knowledge and understanding of Mathematics, with the ability to effectively support students in this subject. - Experience of working with students who display challenging behaviour, and the ability to implement appropriate behaviour management strategies. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. - A patient and resilient nature, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. - Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance or Mathematics would be advantageous.
