We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school located in Richmond upon Thames. This part-time position is specifically focused on supporting a Year 1 student with autism and challenging behaviour for 2 days a week. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing support to the student, both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring their educational needs are met and promoting their overall wellbeing.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism and challenging behaviour
- Strong knowledge and understanding of strategies to support children with autism
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching methods to cater to individual student needs
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive attitude towards working with children with special educational needs
We have a part-time SEN TA role working in year 1 with one particular child with ASD. The role will involve usual class TA duties such as preparing resources, reading with children etc. You will have an opportunity to work with different children in the class alongside this child. If you are interested in the role, we would welcome a trial day to meet the class.

We have a position for a full time SEN TA to work with a boy in yr2 with Autism. He is mostly non-verbal but can communicate. He is working well below his age related expectations. We will organise a full handover with the current TA.

We are currently seeking to place a full-time (8.30 am - 4pm) Teaching Assistant 1:1 with a new child in Reception. We require someone with experience working with children with high-needs autism. This is the profile that best matches how the child is presenting:
The child has speech and language, communication, and emotional regulation difficulties. They also have behavioural needs - and have been physical.
Trials begin on Tuesday 12th September.
About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child with high-needs autism in Reception
- Assist with speech and language development, communication, and emotional regulation
- Manage and address behavioural needs, ensuring the safety and well-being of the child
- Collaborate with the class teacher and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
- Support the child's integration into the classroom and help them participate in all activities
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and parents
