The child has been out of school since July but has started at this particular school at the end of November and has settled in well. The child has autism, but doesn't display challenging behaviour or dysregulation. They need additional help to keep them focused and motivate them throughout the day. The school are looking to do a phased return for the child so the role will ideally be mornings only until Christmas, then full-time from January. The child will go swimming once a week so the TA must be happy to go in the water (up to waist deep) with the child. Trial days will be held before the winter break (before 21st December) with the role to start full-time from the 8th January. Reception Our school has continuous provision throughout (playful learning setting) not only in Early Years as this is the pedagogy of the school. The school day is organised into three teaching sessions; Book Based Learning (Literacy based), Phonics, Maths and story time session at end of day. The rest of day is 'free flow' play (so all children are free to explore or to attend adult led intervention groups). The role consists of working with two ASD girls . One is completely non-verbal , the other has more understanding but uses very limited language ; so still a Social Partner on the SCERTS scale. Both require personal care. However, please note we expect ALL SEN TAs within the school to be open to personal care regardless of whether your pupils require it. As a school we are focused upon play, language and communication and social skills. We have a wide variety of interventions available to SEN pupils and a full time SaLT employed by the school full time. The school has a large play ground with sand pit and climbing frame. The KS1 playground has access to woodlands and chickens.
