We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible.
We are interested in meeting university graduates to work as teaching assistants within our Hospital and Home Tuition Service, particularly within our warm and welcoming CAMHS school. Our TAs are referred to as Education care Co-ordinators (ECC) as they not only support in the classroom but are also the lead in providing transition support for our young people as they move back into their schools. It is preferable (though not essential) that the candidate have an understanding of child developmental psychology and mental health.
Students in this school are usually secondary age and have significant mental health needs which have led to hospitalisation. Students stay with us from 2 weeks – 6 months and are supported by a multi-disciplinary medical team and an experienced group of teaching staff. Nurses and teachers work alongside each other in the classrooms where we aim to ensure that students return to their school having addressed gaps in their learning and ready for the next steps in their respective schools.
We normally recruit graduates, as a number of our students may be transitioning to Russell group universities. Candidates also need to be engaging and friendly with plenty of initiative.
