Summary: We are seeking a dedicated District Paraprofessional to join our team at Mesa Middle School within Douglas County, supporting a 7th grade student with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as part of the "Home BASE" program. This full-time role runs from October 20, 2025, through December 18, 2025, with the potential for extension through the remainder of the school year. The ideal candidate will work closely with the student in a general education classroom, providing personalized support that aligns with our school's commitment to fostering inclusive, respectful, and nurturing learning environments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a student's educational experience while working within a district that values collaboration, diversity, and student-centered learning. Key Responsibilities: - Provide one-on-one support to a 7th grade student with ASD within a general education classroom, ensuring the student’s needs are met in accordance with individualized accommodations. - Assist the student with classroom tasks, including scribing notes and reading directions aloud, to support understanding and participation. - Help the student manage negative self-talk, overwhelm, and overstimulation by implementing structured breaks and maintaining a calm, consistent, and positive presence. - Support the student during structured breaks within the "Home BASE" classroom, fostering a safe and supportive environment. - Maintain clear boundaries and a warm, respectful demeanor, demonstrating maturity and consistency in interactions. - Monitor and de-escalate verbal and physical behaviors, employing appropriate strategies to support the student’s emotional regulation. - Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and family members to implement individualized strategies that promote student success. - Observe and document behavioral and academic progress, communicating observations to relevant staff. - Support a positive classroom environment that aligns with the school's values of inclusivity, respect, and student empowerment. - Uphold the safety and well-being of the student and others in the classroom, following district and school policies. What roles do you cover?

We help Teachers, Teachers Assistants, Teachers Aides, and Paraprofessionals find work. We work with all types of schools and help with short-term, long-term, and permanent roles. Many of our long-term roles convert to permanent roles. We make it far easier than a traditional agency for teachers to convert temporary positions into permanent ones.

Do you have early childhood or K-12 roles?

Yes. We can help with daily subbing and long-term jobs in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. We don't typically have jobs in higher education or college.

What areas do you cover?

We work with over 500 schools in Minneapolis St Paul - Minnesota, Denver - Colorado, Los Angeles - California and Phoenix - Arizona, San Diego California, The Bay Area California

Do you have school administrator roles?

If you're looking for teaching or teaching assistant roles, and would also be interested in admin roles, it's worth letting us know. If you're only looking for admin roles, we might not be the place for you as this isn't what we specialize in.

Do you provide any training for teachers?

Yes, we have educators on staff who offer expertise and training to Zen Educate teachers. Regions vary in the training sessions that are required / offered.

How is Zen Educate different from a recruitment agency?

Zen Educate is a technology platform to connect teachers with schools directly. Agencies are an expensive middleman between schools and teachers. They have to charge high commissions because their booking procedures are largely manual and run on outdated systems. Because we run more of the process online or on your phone, we create an experience that matches schools and teachers at a fraction of the cost.

What documents do I need to provide in the vetting process?

We'll need a photo for professional use, resume, and a document reflecting your highest level of education. In addition, we'll need a right to work and background check. Your region or school may require other training or documentation - our recruitment team will guide you through each step!
