Job description

We are looking for a 1:1 staff person to support as a 1:1 SPED aide for a student in Kindergarten classroom at Hollyglen Elementary. We need someone who can manage challenging behaviors such as noncompliance and physical aggression so someone with experience and training in that area would be highly preferred. Otherwise, you will be provided a Behavior Intervention Plan and given chances to practice how to support those behaviors. You would receive weekly support from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the primary focuses would be ensuring the student eats at least half his meal at lunch (due to medication he is not eating and losing weight as a result), collecting data with objective notes regarding occurrences of challenging behaviors such as those described above, and cultivating opportunities to play with other students during recess to build social skills. All of these would be areas we would touch on the first day, and I would be present to provide a tour of the campus to ensure that everything goes smoothly. Wednesdays are early dismissal so it would be 8:45am-12:45am and the other days would be 8:45am-2:00pm unless special circumstances. Calendar will be provided to ensure holidays are communicated ahead of time.

FAQ

Getting started

How do I apply to work with Zen?

If the online sign up isn't working as it should, then you can apply in the Zen Educate app, or email your resume and a short description of what you're looking for to our team at help@zeneducate.com and we'll be in touch.

How do I interview?

To make sure you're getting bookings perfect for you, we will invite you to a 30-minute online interview with our team to learn about your experience, preferences and why you're passionate about working in education. You can do this through any smartphone or computer.

I'm not ready to start a new job immediately, but I'm job searching for the near future. What should I do?

If you're not ready to find another role, or you're just browsing, you're definitely still welcome to sign up. Registering with us and letting us know what you're looking for will help us to get in touch with you about roles you may be interested in!

I only have work experience outside the US. Is that OK?

We'd be happy to speak to you about your experience, and find out if we'd be able to help you find a role.

Roles

What roles do you cover?

We help Teachers, Teachers Assistants, Teachers Aides, and Paraprofessionals find work. We work with all types of schools and help with short-term, long-term, and permanent roles. Many of our long-term roles convert to permanent roles. We make it far easier than a traditional agency for teachers to convert temporary positions into permanent ones.

Do you have early childhood or K-12 roles?

Yes. We can help with daily subbing and long-term jobs in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. We don't typically have jobs in higher education or college.

What areas do you cover?

We work with over 500 schools in Minneapolis St Paul - Minnesota, Denver - Colorado, Los Angeles - California and Phoenix - Arizona, San Diego California, The Bay Area California

Do you have school administrator roles?

If you're looking for teaching or teaching assistant roles, and would also be interested in admin roles, it's worth letting us know. If you're only looking for admin roles, we might not be the place for you as this isn't what we specialize in.

Do you provide any training for teachers?

Yes, we have educators on staff who offer expertise and training to Zen Educate teachers. Regions vary in the training sessions that are required / offered.

General

How is Zen Educate different from a recruitment agency?

Zen Educate is a technology platform to connect teachers with schools directly. Agencies are an expensive middleman between schools and teachers. They have to charge high commissions because their booking procedures are largely manual and run on outdated systems. Because we run more of the process online or on your phone, we create an experience that matches schools and teachers at a fraction of the cost.

I couldn't find something on your website, how do I find more?

Email help@zeneducate.com and our friendly team will get back to you shortly.

Application process

What documents do I need to provide in the vetting process?

We'll need a photo for professional use, resume, and a document reflecting your highest level of education. In addition, we'll need a right to work and background check. Your region or school may require other training or documentation - our recruitment team will guide you through each step!

I don't have all of my documents ready now. Can I still apply?

Yes! You can sign up now and let us know what work you're looking for. You can return at any time to finish your profile and start getting bookings.
