Job description

The Mission: You already know that student success starts in the classroom, but a thriving school needs support everywhere - from the front office to the lunch yard. We are looking for our most reliable, versatile, and "student-first" Paras to join our Site Support Specialist pool. This is an opportunity for those who love the school environment and want to expand their impact beyond a single classroom. As a Site Support Specialist, you aren’t just a Para; you are the district's "Swiss Army Knife"—the go-to professional who keeps the campus running smoothly. Where You’ll Make an Impact: Flexible Instructional Support: Jumping in as a Teacher Assistant to keep a classroom on track. Campus Culture: Providing high-visibility Campus and Lunch Supervision to ensure student safety and joy during breaks. The "Front Office" Hero: Supporting clerical and administrative tasks to keep the school's heart beating. Site Operations: Being the flexible, positive presence site leaders rely on when the day gets unpredictable. What We’re Looking For: We aren't just looking for "available" staff; we are looking for Site Champions. "Good" in this role looks like: The "Pivot" Pro: You can move from a classroom setting to an office task without missing a beat. Radical Positivity: You see every task - whether it’s yard duty or data entry - as a way to support a student's day. Reliable Site Intel: You understand how schools work and can anticipate what a Principal or Office Admin needs before they ask. The "Zen" Energy: You remain calm, professional, and helpful even when the school day gets chaotic. How to Qualify: This role is currently only open to our existing educator pool. To be considered for these specialized assignments and "Certified" status: Express Your Interest and one of our team will reach out to you! The Qualification Chat: We’ll have a brief 10-minute "vibe check" to discuss your experience and site preferences. Get Dispatched: Once qualified, you’ll be eligible for these multi-disciplinary roles across our partner districts.

FAQ

Getting started

How do I apply to work with Zen?

If the online sign up isn't working as it should, then you can apply in the Zen Educate app, or email your resume and a short description of what you're looking for to our team at help@zeneducate.com and we'll be in touch.

How do I interview?

To make sure you're getting bookings perfect for you, we will invite you to a 30-minute online interview with our team to learn about your experience, preferences and why you're passionate about working in education. You can do this through any smartphone or computer.

I'm not ready to start a new job immediately, but I'm job searching for the near future. What should I do?

If you're not ready to find another role, or you're just browsing, you're definitely still welcome to sign up. Registering with us and letting us know what you're looking for will help us to get in touch with you about roles you may be interested in!

I only have work experience outside the US. Is that OK?

We'd be happy to speak to you about your experience, and find out if we'd be able to help you find a role.

Roles

What roles do you cover?

We help Teachers, Teachers Assistants, Teachers Aides, and Paraprofessionals find work. We work with all types of schools and help with short-term, long-term, and permanent roles. Many of our long-term roles convert to permanent roles. We make it far easier than a traditional agency for teachers to convert temporary positions into permanent ones.

Do you have early childhood or K-12 roles?

Yes. We can help with daily subbing and long-term jobs in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. We don't typically have jobs in higher education or college.

What areas do you cover?

We work with over 500 schools in Minneapolis St Paul - Minnesota, Denver - Colorado, Los Angeles - California and Phoenix - Arizona, San Diego California, The Bay Area California

Do you have school administrator roles?

If you're looking for teaching or teaching assistant roles, and would also be interested in admin roles, it's worth letting us know. If you're only looking for admin roles, we might not be the place for you as this isn't what we specialize in.

Do you provide any training for teachers?

Yes, we have educators on staff who offer expertise and training to Zen Educate teachers. Regions vary in the training sessions that are required / offered.

General

How is Zen Educate different from a recruitment agency?

Zen Educate is a technology platform to connect teachers with schools directly. Agencies are an expensive middleman between schools and teachers. They have to charge high commissions because their booking procedures are largely manual and run on outdated systems. Because we run more of the process online or on your phone, we create an experience that matches schools and teachers at a fraction of the cost.

I couldn't find something on your website, how do I find more?

Email help@zeneducate.com and our friendly team will get back to you shortly.

Application process

What documents do I need to provide in the vetting process?

We'll need a photo for professional use, resume, and a document reflecting your highest level of education. In addition, we'll need a right to work and background check. Your region or school may require other training or documentation - our recruitment team will guide you through each step!

I don't have all of my documents ready now. Can I still apply?

Yes! You can sign up now and let us know what work you're looking for. You can return at any time to finish your profile and start getting bookings.
