Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated District Paraprofessional to join our team within a district school in Wright County. This role is integral to supporting our school's mission of fostering an inclusive, respectful, and nurturing learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will work full-time, supporting students with special education needs through individualized assistance, classroom support, and behavior management. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our students' educational journeys, aligning with our core values of collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement. The role is scheduled to start immediately and will continue through the academic year, with potential for extension based on district needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or group tutoring for students with special education needs, reinforcing skills already taught by staff while supporting behavior management strategies to ensure students can complete their work within appropriate behavioral guidelines.
- Monitor students in mainstream classrooms and facilitate communication between special education and general education teachers to keep all staff informed of student performance and behavior.
- Perform clerical duties such as data collection, data entry, maintaining student files (including IEPs), copying materials, and conducting parent mailings to ensure instructional resources and student records are current and accessible.
- Supervise students with special needs outside of classroom settings, ensuring their safety and appropriate behavior throughout the school environment.
- Assist classroom teachers with instructional tasks, student support, and test correction as assigned, contributing to a productive learning environment.
- Support students during activities on site and within the community, enabling participation in educational programs and fostering social and skill development.
- Attend student staffing meetings and collaborate with educators and support staff as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality of family and program information in accordance with district policies, as well as state and federal laws.
- Provide basic First Aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring student safety.
- Reinforce language and communication skills previously taught by staff, including facilitating communication through sign language if needed, to support student learning.
- Assist with other job-related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the special education team.
