We are seeking a talented individual who is able to lead, manage and further develop the school’s Mathematics curriculum and curriculum offer, in order to provide the very best opportunities for all of our pupils.
This is middle leadership position with class teaching responsibility. The position includes a TLR 2.1 for Mathematics Leadership across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 and Leadership of Children’s University. This role is not suitable for ECT's.

Leadership and Management
With the support of and /or under the direction of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and/or Broader Curriculum Lead:
• Be responsible for leading, managing and developing the school’s provision in Mathematics and across the curriculum in EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement and progress through effective teaching and learning.
• Have an enthusiasm for the subject which motivates and supports other staff and encourages a shared understanding of the contribution the subject can make to all aspects of pupils’ lives.
• Take lead accountability for pupil progress in the subject area, using relevant school, local and national data (as appropriate) to inform targets for development and further improvement for individuals and groups of pupils;
• Assess the subject area performance e.g. through monitoring activities, data analysis, improvement tools and lead any improvements.
• Manage the subject area’s resources, staff and equipment efficiently within the limitations of the subject area’s budget.
• Lead the implementation of relevant cross-curricular links in collaboration with other subject and broader curriculum leaders.
• Act as a positive role model for all pupils and staff members.
• Work with the SLT to ensure that staff development needs are identified and met.
• Assist with the induction of new staff who join the school in relation to Mathematics.
• Ensure that classroom support is deployed effectively across the subject areas.
• Implement and lead on quality assurance procedures across the subject areas.
• Lead the development of mathematics across the curriculum in line with the school approach.
• Lead regular meetings, including moderation meetings.
Strategic Direction and Development
With a specific focus on Mathematics across the curriculum, across EYFS, KS1 and KS2:
• Implement the school’s policies and practices, which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement
and effective teaching and learning across all broader curriculum subjects.
• Support the overall Curriculum Leader and take a lead role in developing a well-planned, relevant and
ambitious school curriculum that promotes knowledge retention and enjoyment for learning.
• Use data and monitoring activities effectively with SLT and other staff across the school to track pupil progress and attainment, and where necessary create and implement effective plans of action to support
pupils who are underachieving.
• Produce strategic development plans for the improvement of the Mathematics.
• Develop links with other Primary schools to share best practice (local and national).
• Develop links with effective Secondary schools to explore how approaches to teaching and learning in KS3 could be used in upper KS2 to further enrich Mathematics for our pupils.
• Monitor the progress of development plans and targets and evaluate the effects on teaching and learning, using this analysis to guide further improvement.
Organisation (including deployment of staff and resources
With a specific focus on Mathematics across EYFS, KS1 and KS2:
• Take the lead responsibility of the development and implementation of the subject area’s syllabus (curriculum), resources and formative assessment.
• Effectively deploy finances and resources to enhance the delivery of the subject area curriculum.
• Ensure the collection and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information.
• Evaluate and analyse performance data and produce reports on pupil performance, as required.
• Work in collaboration with the Broader Curriculum Leads to ensure that the teaching commitments are
effectively and efficiently timetabled and resourced.
Curriculum planning and provision
With a specific focus on Mathematics across EYFS, KS1 and KS2:
• Liaise with the SLT to ensure that the curriculum delivery is high quality, cost-effective, inclusive and in line with the SDP.
• Maintain overall accountability for the running, improvement of Mathematics across the curriculum (EYFS, KS1 and KS2).
• Assist with the creation, review and implementation of the curriculum policy.
• Keep up-to-date with developments in the subject area curriculum, broader curriculum and science of learning and ensure that these are reflected in the school’s practices.
• Ensure that the subject area curriculum is broad, balanced, challenging and inclusive, enabling all pupils to achieve their full potential.
• Develop effective links with the local community including parents, business and industry;
Communication
• Ensure all staff members are familiar with the aims and objectives of the subject and curriculum in accordance with the SDP, including through the school website.
• Regularly liaise with other staff members in the subject area to enable colleagues to share their ideas, e.g. regarding the syllabus / curriculum, ensure that teaching is aligned with the implementation and development of the subject area syllabus and curriculum policy.
• Pass on relevant information to the SLT in scheduled meetings.
• Work with other teachers to establish and set targets for pupils in the subject area.
• Ensure that the Headteacher, Overall Curriculum Leader and Governors are well informed about the developments of Mathematics across the curriculum.
Teaching and Learning
• Consistently demonstrate high-quality teaching and learning in the subject, including class environment;
• Assist the enhancement of other staff member’s teaching practices across the subject area, e.g. through
lesson observation and feedback.
• Ensure that the subject curriculum has breadth, depth, and relevance and that there is good continuity
and progression built in for all pupils within and between phases, including PP, SEND, EAL and most able.
• Ensure that long, medium and short-term planning for the curriculum subject is recorded and monitored.
• Through lesson visits, work scrutiny, shared evaluation and other relevant methods, ensure consistency
and high-quality teaching and learning across the subject.
• Ensure that information on pupil progress and attainment in Mathematics across the curriculum (EYFS to
KS2) is used effectively to secure good progress.
• With broader curriculum leaders, to build up and maintain an up-to-date portfolio of assessed and
moderated work across the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 as appropriate.
• Maximise pupils’ potential attainment and achievement standards.
• Provide workshops for parents and carers and other professionals in relation to Mathematics.
Children’s University
• To establish the Children’s University at Barlows Primary School working under the guidance of the Headteacher and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Establish links with our nearest Children’s University Hub School.
• Take part in training to become a validator of Children’s University internal and external learning destinations.
• Establish a range of validated after school clubs every term.
• Develop relationships with external club providers.
• Timetable validated clubs and maintain registers of attendance.
• Establish a range of learning experiences in the local community of Fazakerley and broader city of Liverpool that pupils can access.
• Establish relationships with a University local to the school.
• Coordinate the Children’s University Graduation.
• Attend Children’s University conferences and training as required.
• Produce and evaluate a Children’s University Development Plan.
• Communicate effectively with parents through meetings and newsletters.
• Work closely with the pupils to inform the types of clubs we provide.
• Manage the budget for the Children’s University and seek further funding for the Children’s University through applying for available bids.
• Work alongside and report to members of the Governing Body.
