EY Teacher, Pre-reception - Outstanding Nursery, Barnet/Enfield, Term-Time £24,500 - £28,500 a year We are looking for a passionate early years teacher that has an excellent knowledge of child development and is looking to develop their practice by taking part in innovative projects. We are a boutique nursery school in Hadley Wood, between Barnet and Enfield, next to the train station, operating in a beautiful setting. Starting on September 1st (after the summer break), this post offers a Competitive Salary (with annual pay rises), the potential for a performance bonus if suitable, private health insurance, and a term-time role (39 weeks of operation on-premises). The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality early education for the children in the school and effectively deliver the school’s hybrid educational approach. You will promote best practices in teaching and learning to ensure that children are ready for school. This is a role that includes leading practice within the setting, ensuring that children experience a broad range of play and learning opportunities, to enable them to develop knowledge and skills as a foundation for good future progress through school and life. Experience and qualifications: The post holder must hold Early Years Professional Status or Qualified Teacher Status. For applicants with QTS, this should be specific to the foundation stage age group. Where this is not the case, the applicant should be able to demonstrate training and recent extensive experience working with children in their early years. Experience of working with children 2-5s Experience of supporting staff in delivering high-quality early education Experience of working with families, identifying support and working in partnership to develop children’s learning and development Experience of working in partnership with other agencies and organisations when identifying and meeting the needs of children and families and in response to safeguarding concerns. 2. Knowledge and Understanding A thorough knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and relevant current legislation. A good understanding of the developmental needs of young children, particularly 2 to 5-year-olds A good understanding of what constitutes a quality early education environment Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures A good understanding of making accurate assessments of children’s learning and development and devising appropriate next steps to their learning A commitment to inclusive and non-discriminatory working practice with children, families, colleagues and the community. Skills and Abilities Ability to design and develop early education environments and programmes building on the children’s interests and the benefits of natural play. Ability to maintain the health, safety and security of others. Flexibility, initiative and the ability to vary and change the curriculum according to children’s needs Good observational skills and the experience to support staff in knowing when and how best to intervene to support children’s play, learning, development and social interactions. Ability to communicate with people in a form and manner that is consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating. Excellent active listening skills.
