    Mar 2 - Jun 5 2026
About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional to join our Sacramento County district team, supporting our commitment to a nurturing, inclusive environment grounded in respect, collaboration, and academic excellence. This is a unique health aide and special education support role operating Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Your day begins and ends at the Rio Vista High School Bus Yard. You will accompany a student—alongside a Behavior Aide—on a van from Rio Vista to their school in Sacramento, providing continuous support during transit and throughout the academic day. Key Responsibilities & Requirements: Medical Support: Prior experience with medical procedures is preferred. You will receive 1-2 hours of specialized training from our school nurse on the student's specific health needs, focusing on non-invasive seizure management (no Diastat required). Classroom Assistance: Assist teachers in implementing instructional plans, organizing materials, and managing classroom behavior to maintain a positive, orderly environment that respects all students' diverse needs. Supervision: Supervise students during activities and transitions, ensuring safety and fostering a respectful school culture. Collaboration: Partner with specialists and staff to implement student progress strategies, emphasizing teamwork while maintaining accurate educational records. Who are we looking for? You can still apply if you do not meet these criteria:: 1. Professional Background Former Health Aides, CNAs, or Medical Assistants: Because the role specifically requests past experience with medical procedures and involves managing non-invasive seizure support, candidates with a healthcare or caregiving background will be the most comfortable and capable. Experienced Paraprofessionals or RBTs: Candidates who have previously worked in special education, understand classroom dynamics, and know how to partner with teachers to implement instructional plans. 2. Key Soft Skills & Traits Calm Under Pressure: They need to be observant and level-headed to monitor the student for seizures during transit and the school day, and to safely manage classroom behavior. Highly Reliable and Punctual: Since this role dictates the student's ability to get to school (starting at the Rio Vista Bus Yard at exactly 7:00 AM), tardiness is not an option. Collaborative Team Player: They will be riding in a confined space (a van) with a Behavior Aide and the student, and then working alongside teachers and specialists all day. They need to be great communicators who check their ego at the door. 3. Logistical Fit Local to Rio Vista: Because the day begins and ends at the Rio Vista High School Bus Yard, the ideal candidate should live relatively close to this starting point to ensure a smooth, sustainable morning commute. Comfortable with Travel: They must be perfectly fine with spending a significant portion of their morning and afternoon riding in a school van.

Getting started

How do I apply to work with Zen?

If the online sign up isn't working as it should, then you can apply in the Zen Educate app, or email your resume and a short description of what you're looking for to our team at help@zeneducate.com and we'll be in touch.

How do I interview?

To make sure you're getting bookings perfect for you, we will invite you to a 30-minute online interview with our team to learn about your experience, preferences and why you're passionate about working in education. You can do this through any smartphone or computer.

I'm not ready to start a new job immediately, but I'm job searching for the near future. What should I do?

If you're not ready to find another role, or you're just browsing, you're definitely still welcome to sign up. Registering with us and letting us know what you're looking for will help us to get in touch with you about roles you may be interested in!

I only have work experience outside the US. Is that OK?

We'd be happy to speak to you about your experience, and find out if we'd be able to help you find a role.

Roles

What roles do you cover?

We help Teachers, Teachers Assistants, Teachers Aides, and Paraprofessionals find work. We work with all types of schools and help with short-term, long-term, and permanent roles. Many of our long-term roles convert to permanent roles. We make it far easier than a traditional agency for teachers to convert temporary positions into permanent ones.

Do you have early childhood or K-12 roles?

Yes. We can help with daily subbing and long-term jobs in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools. We don't typically have jobs in higher education or college.

What areas do you cover?

We work with over 500 schools in Minneapolis St Paul - Minnesota, Denver - Colorado, Los Angeles - California and Phoenix - Arizona, San Diego California, The Bay Area California

Do you have school administrator roles?

If you're looking for teaching or teaching assistant roles, and would also be interested in admin roles, it's worth letting us know. If you're only looking for admin roles, we might not be the place for you as this isn't what we specialize in.

Do you provide any training for teachers?

Yes, we have educators on staff who offer expertise and training to Zen Educate teachers. Regions vary in the training sessions that are required / offered.

General

How is Zen Educate different from a recruitment agency?

Zen Educate is a technology platform to connect teachers with schools directly. Agencies are an expensive middleman between schools and teachers. They have to charge high commissions because their booking procedures are largely manual and run on outdated systems. Because we run more of the process online or on your phone, we create an experience that matches schools and teachers at a fraction of the cost.

I couldn't find something on your website, how do I find more?

Email help@zeneducate.com and our friendly team will get back to you shortly.

Application process

What documents do I need to provide in the vetting process?

We'll need a photo for professional use, resume, and a document reflecting your highest level of education. In addition, we'll need a right to work and background check. Your region or school may require other training or documentation - our recruitment team will guide you through each step!

I don't have all of my documents ready now. Can I still apply?

Yes! You can sign up now and let us know what work you're looking for. You can return at any time to finish your profile and start getting bookings.
