Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons for KS3 and KS4 students, ensuring lessons are engaging, relevant, and aligned with curriculum and examination requirements.
- Use a range of teaching methods, including programming, project-based learning, and digital literacy activities, to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL students.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking.
- Support students in developing proficiency in coding languages such as Python and understanding key computing concepts, including algorithms, networks, and data representation.
- Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and GCSE Computer Science examinations, ensuring they are confident in both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject.
Subject/Department Duties
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Computer Science curriculum, including schemes of work, assessments, and digital resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the integration of technology across the wider curriculum.
- Ensure the safe and responsible use of IT resources, maintaining compliance with school and data protection policies.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and moderation activities.
Assessment, Reporting & Administration
- Mark and assess students’ work accurately and in line with school policies, providing constructive feedback that promotes progress.
- Use assessment data to track student attainment and inform teaching and intervention strategies.
- Contribute to student progress reports, parent consultations, and academic reviews.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and behaviour.
Pastoral, School & Extra-Curricular Contribution
- Support student wellbeing through pastoral duties, such as registration and mentoring.
- Promote engagement with Computer Science through extra-curricular opportunities such as coding clubs, robotics teams, or digital innovation challenges.
- Participate in school events, CPD sessions, INSET days, and other professional activities as required by the leadership team.
