We are seeking a dedicated Pupil-referral-unit Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Oldham. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in analysing data and patterns related to pupil attendance, behaviour, and progress, contributing to comprehensive assessments alongside teaching staff.
- Develop and implement tailored action plans for pupils identified as needing additional support, focusing on overcoming barriers to learning.
- Monitor and evaluate pupil responses and progress through observations and data collection, adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Establish and maintain positive, motivating relationships with pupils to support behavioural, emotional, and educational development.
- Provide pupils with relevant information and advice to empower them to make informed choices regarding their learning and behaviour.
- Share knowledge of external support services, organisations, and activities that can benefit pupils, supporting their holistic development.
- Prepare and deliver objective reports on pupil progress, ensuring accurate documentation and appropriate communication with stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact between the school and external agencies, fostering collaborative relationships to support pupils effectively.
- Maintain regular contact with families and carers, including home visits when required, to promote pupil attendance and wellbeing.
- Use school systems, such as SIMS, to record attendance and behaviour, including entering attendance marks and tracking patterns of poor attendance.
- Support the implementation of school policies on safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusion, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
- Contribute to the development of whole-school strategies aimed at promoting learning, inclusion, social development, and attendance.
- Assist with transition processes for new pupils, including transferring relevant data and supporting their integration into the school community.
- Complete administrative tasks related to pupil support and liaise with relevant agencies to facilitate appropriate interventions.
- Support the Pastoral Co-ordinator with documentation and procedures related to Fair Access initiatives.
- Uphold the school’s values of inclusion, equality, and diversity, promoting a culture of respect and opportunity for all.
- Participate in training, meetings, and professional development activities to continually enhance skills and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Undertake additional duties as required, consistent with the role’s grade, to ensure the effective support of pupils and the smooth running of the referral unit.
