What you're accountable for

What you're accountable for

As Director of Education, you’re accountable for standards, inclusion and school improvement across the Trust.

You coach and hold Headteachers to account, set the curriculum and assessment frameworks every school follows, and lead inclusion and SEND policy across every academy.

You also report to the CEO and Trustees on outcomes, risk and the quality of education in every classroom, not only the ones you’re able to visit this term.

The gap between the standard and the classroom

The gap between the standard and the classroom

You can set the highest standards for inclusion and teaching quality centrally. But those standards can only be delivered when the right person is in the classroom on the day it matters.

SEND need is rising across schools. Finding supply staff who can meet the specific needs of the pupils in front of them, rather than simply covering the lesson, is becoming harder.

Most Trusts also have very little visibility into whether the staff arriving in their schools are meeting the standard set centrally. Without that visibility, consistency becomes something you hope for rather than something you can demonstrate.

Where Zen fits

Where Zen fits

Zen doesn't set your curriculum vision, coach your Headteachers or hold schools to account for their outcomes. That's your work, and it deserves your full attention.

What Zen can remove is narrower and more specific: the uncertainty around whether every classroom has properly trained, SEND-confident staff, consistently, across every school in the Trust.

Not simply filled. Prepared.

What that time and certainty give back

What that time and certainty give back

When staffing and training are no longer a daily uncertainty, the time and confidence you regain can go back into the work only you can do: shaping school improvement strategy, developing your Headteachers and building the leadership pipeline your Trust needs as it grows.

That time reaches the classroom directly.

It can mean a SEND pupil being taught by someone who understands co-regulation, rather than someone who is simply covering the lesson. A Headteacher being coached on strategy instead of firefighting a staffing gap. The standard you set centrally being delivered consistently, rather than only when the rota happens to work out.

Training-led, not recruitment

Every candidate is prepared and school-ready before placement, rather than simply matched to a vacancy and sent into the classroom.

Free training for every candidate

Every candidate we place has access to free training modules, including National Autistic Society-endorsed content and our own ZIRA accreditation. Training isn’t treated as an optional extra.

Real SEND frameworks, not a generic briefing

Team Teach, co-regulation and trauma-informed approaches are embedded in our training. These are the same frameworks your strongest SENCOs already use.

Led by people who have done the job

Our SEND & Safeguarding Lead is a qualified SENCO, drama therapist and former Educational Safeguarding Advisor. Our SEND Training Manager’s background includes SEND education and part-time work as a child-attachment therapist.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How do you make sure staff are prepared for SEND placements, rather than simply available?

Every candidate completes training before placement, rather than after a problem appears.

What visibility do we have into whether staff are meeting our standards across every school?

A Trust-wide dashboard tracks supply usage and feedback, so quality is visible centrally rather than only being felt school by school.

Can we set Trust-wide training requirements that apply across every school?

Yes. Training is tracked through the platform and applied consistently across the Trust, rather than managed separately by each school.

Does this replace our school improvement strategy or SENCO team?

No. It supports the staffing that sits beneath your strategy and your SENCOs. It doesn’t replace the strategic work that only you and your team can do.
