What inspired your move to London?
I've lived in London for just under 5 years. I was encouraged to go by a partner teacher of mine in Australia after two years. She told me it would be the hardest but most rewarding thing you could do. Funnily enough, she was right!

What’s one of your favourite teaching moments in London?
I have so many memorable teaching moments in London. I remember teaching phonics one morning, and seeing snow fall outside my classroom window was definitely one of the highlights!  I think I was more excited than the kids.

What are some of your top London recommendations?
I would recommend Brickwood Cafe for when you're feeling a little homesick and need a dose of Nutrigrain, or Timtams, or just to hear an Australian voice! I would also recommend a night out in Soho, hitting up Chinatown in some of the most amazing Asian restaurants and finishing the night listening to some incredibly talented musicians in Leicester Square.

Where is your favourite summer destination?
My favourite summer destination has to be Greece. It's the juicy gyros, the music and the way of life. The locals are so friendly, and there's always an incredible view or sunset to see with a glass of rosé in hand.

Where was your most memorable winter holiday?
My most memorable winter holiday was in Germany! We visited the Dachau Concentration camp during the day and were immersed in the incredible history of World War 2. Then we head to the Hofbrauhaus to warm up, eating a juicy giant pork knuckle, smashing a stein bigger than my head and listening to traditional music.

What advice do you have for teachers about to make the move to the UK?
Do it. It's hard, especially the first 6 months as you're setting up your life, but do it. You'll meet the most amazing people, strengthen your teaching pedagogy and travel to places you didn't even know existed.

Anything else you'd like to write about
There are always people around you who are here to help. Whether that be your teaching agency, a local sporting club, a hiking group or a running club. There is always something to do and someone to see. Take the leap!
